Apprentice recruitment practice survey launched to help get most from the levy

AELP and GetMyFirstJob have launched a survey to get a snapshot view of the recruitment market for apprentices following the levy’s introduction.

Bottom of FormAimed at AELP members and training providers across the UK, this survey will give an insight into the key challenges facing training providers in recruiting new apprentices for employers.

GetMyFirstJob’s experience suggests that there is increasing focus, particularly by larger providers, on effective recruitment as a key driver of business growth and winning contracts.

Areas of practice which the survey will be exploring include whether approaches to recruitment have changed over the last two years, the use of social media for recruiting apprentices and the biggest challenges in engaging with employers.

The survey will be conducted as a major feature of the AELP national conference and in follow-up to participants, exhibitors and visitors to the conference.

GetMyFirstJob’s CEO David Allison said ‘We are delighted, as a patron of AELP, to be working together to help develop best practice and overcome key challenges we all face in the FE and skills sector.  We have seen so many changes this year, so it is vital that we work together to develop insight, meaningful data and solutions that both providers and employers can use to create better strategies to recruit young talent.’

Paul Warner, AELP Director of Research, said ‘The fact that many levy paying employers have held back from recruiting new apprentices so far and that the non-levy funding allocations for SMEs have added to the challenges makes it very important for providers to get their engagement with employers right.  The survey results should give some valuable pointers to providers on how they can encourage more recruitment.’
