CCATF receives funding extension from City & Guilds

CCATF receives funding extension from City & Guilds

Following the first, hugely successful three-year core funding support agreement, the CCATF have now received formal confirmation from City & Guilds of an initial one-year extension up to the end of 2020.

Speaking about the contract extension, CCATF Chair, Martyn Price MBE said ‘in confirming their continued support of the CCATF, City & Guilds are not only acknowledging the excellent work being undertaken by our members around the construction apprenticeship agenda; they are also clearly demonstrating that there is still an on-going need, as we further develop our understanding of the wider potential benefits that this relationship can offer’

Established in 2007 the CCATF has a mission to “champion the ethos and culture of training within the construction industry by working with industry peers and stakeholders; to encourage those not training to do so and those that train to do more by promoting the benefits and value that hiring an apprentice can bring”. Considerable success is in evidence with over 140 members, the CCATF is currently underpinning over 10,000 apprentices in the sector.

Nick Cutland the Executive Director of Quality at City & Guilds added ’ I’m delighted to be continuing our partnership with CCATF. City & Guilds is experiencing continued success in the construction sector and is doing so with the industry knowledge and support of CCATF. We must always stay abreast of industry trends and changes and this partnership is a key source of this intelligence and helps us develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders’

Continuing in his assessment of the impact of this funding extension, CCATF Chair Price commented ‘during a period when we have been affected by political uncertainty, I am extremely grateful to City & Guilds for their continued support. It creates a stable financial platform from which we can further develop our multi-layered skills and talent agenda for the construction sector’

‘There are many challenges and opportunities for the businesses and government to consider. The skills landscape is still evolving, the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy in 2017 brought fresh challenges, some of which we are still to fully embrace. We look forward to working with our expanding membership and other key industry stakeholders in bringing these positive developments into the industry, for the greater benefit of construction apprentices and employers alike’
