CCATF Chairman to meet BBC The Apprentice winner Valente

CCATF Chairman to meet BBC The Apprentice winner Valente

The Apprentice winner 2015, Joseph Valente is to meet with CCATF Chairman Martyn Price in November.

A key area of focus at this meeting will be a general discussion about the current status of the UK’s apprenticeship arena. Both Valente and Price have direct experience of the apprenticeship process and frameworks with both having completed apprenticeships in the respective careers.

Joseph, as many will remember, was the eventual winner of the 2015 series of the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’ show, hosted by Lord Alan Sugar.

It is predicted that specific areas of interest for this meeting will centre around the, soon to be introduced, Apprenticeship Levy and the implications it has on the sector. This, along with discussions about the programme of conversion from frameworks to standards and funding levels (currently under review by DfE), will be key areas for shared understanding.

When discussing the upcoming meeting Mr Price identified the ‘apprenticeship journey’ that Joseph had been on as a key driver.

“It will be very interesting to get Joseph’s perspective on the questions and issues currently active within the apprentice arena at this time”.

Price added “as a high profile, trained apprentice and now winner of The Apprentice, Joseph represents the embodiment of what the CCATF strives to achieve. Well trained, experienced individuals that are both academically capable and offer sustainable, job-ready, skills to make an early and valid contribution to their employer”

With more individuals given the opportunity to see the many advantages on offer of following an apprenticeship route and with people like Joseph ‘flying the flag’ for apprentices the CCATF and its members hope that the future of apprenticeships in the UK construction sector is as bright as Joseph’s looks.

A report on the meeting and any outcomes will be reported following the meeting.
